A tragic accident occurred on Thailand's popular Koh Samui island when Russian actress Kamilla Belyatskaya, 24, was swept to her death by a powerful wave while practicing yoga. The incident took place at the Lad Ko Viewpoint, a scenic spot overlooking the Gulf of Thailand, where Belyatskaya had been filming herself exercising on her yoga mat.
Harrowing footage captured the moment a large wave surged onto the rocky beach and engulfed Kamilla, washing her into the turbulent waters. A bystander reportedly rushed into the sea in an attempt to save her, but was unable to reach her in time. Later, the yoga mat was seen floating in the rough waters, a haunting symbol of the tragedy.
Kamilla, originally from Novosibirsk, Russia’s third-largest city, was visiting the island with her boyfriend. She had previously shared her deep affection for Koh Samui on social media, describing the island as her "home" and "the best place on earth." She had often spoken of the Lad Ko Viewpoint, calling the rocky beach where the tragedy occurred the "best thing" she had ever seen in her life.
In a heartfelt post before her death, Kamilla expressed her joy and gratitude for being in the location, stating, "Thank you, universe, for me being here right now. I'm very happy. I'm happy!"
Her boyfriend and witnesses to the incident have provided statements to the local police as the investigation continues.
Authorities are reminding visitors of the dangers posed by Thailand's monsoon conditions, urging extreme caution near rocky coastal areas during periods of high waves. The tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the potential hazards posed by nature, even in idyllic tourist destinations.
