Phoenix Woman Alleges Kidnapping, Assault — Fears for Her Life After Accused Is Released

A Phoenix woman is living in fear after her alleged abuser, Timothy Wood, was released from jail due to lack of sufficient evidence. The woman, who remains anonymous, claims Wood—her ex-boyfriend—kidnapped, beat, and sexually assaulted her during a horrifying 14-day ordeal. She says he held her captive in a shed, threatened to kill her, and even buried her alive for two days.

Despite initial assurances from authorities that they had strong evidence, including medical reports corroborating her injuries, the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office requested more evidence from police, resulting in Wood’s release. The woman says she no longer feels safe and believes her life is in danger, telling reporters, “Enjoy my funeral,” in a message to prosecutors.

Recently, Phoenix police resubmitted charges including kidnapping, sexual assault, and aggravated assault. The County Attorney’s Office is currently reviewing the case.
