Donald Trump may be back in the White House, but new polling shows the appetite for another impeachment is already surging — and could become a majority position before the 2026 midterms.
A Lake Research Partners poll, commissioned by Free Speech For People, found that 49% of likely voters in swing districts favor impeaching Trump, while just 44% oppose it. The same poll revealed 56% disapprove of Trump’s job performance during his second term, compared to only 40% who approve.
The polling firm called the numbers “remarkable” and “unprecedented,” noting that it is virtually unheard of for so many voters to support impeachment so early in a president’s term.
Journalist Jason Easley of PoliticusUSA argued that this could spell disaster for Trump heading into 2026:
“If Democrats win 20-40 seats, while only needing to flip three to take the majority, Trump’s presidency is effectively over. The pot is boiling, and the boil-over moment will likely manifest itself next November.”
Easley predicted that impeachment support could cross 50% before the midterms, especially if Trump’s rocky second term continues on its current trajectory.
Trump is, of course, no stranger to impeachment. He was impeached first in 2019 for trying to strong-arm Ukraine into smearing Joe Biden, and again in 2020 for attempting to overturn the presidential election results.
Now, just one year into his second administration, voters in key battlegrounds are already signaling they may be ready to see him impeached for a third time.
