“Newsom Trolls Trump With ‘Escalatorgate’ Remix — The Internet Can’t Stop Laughing”

California Governor Gavin Newsom is showing no signs of letting up in his trolling campaign against President Donald Trump, this time dropping a viral video that remixes Trump’s speeches with the classic 1990s hit “Macarena.”

The video, which Newsom posted on Friday, features clips of Trump talking while the upbeat track plays in the background. Newsom captioned it: “A golden week, for a golden era.”

One highlight shows Trump beginning a sentence with, “Nothing bad can happen, it can only—” before the word “escalator” is spliced in from another clip, poking fun at the president’s viral remark from earlier this week: “Nothing bad can happen, it can only good happen.”

The jab comes after Trump’s embarrassing moment at the United Nations, when he and First Lady Melania Trump were delayed because the escalator they were about to use suddenly stopped working. Trump quickly blamed his political enemies and even demanded the U.N. Secretary General investigate the “sabotage.” However, insiders later revealed the truth: someone in Trump’s own entourage accidentally triggered the emergency stop button. The U.N. later confirmed this, though the Trump camp continues to cry foul.

Newsom has fully embraced his role as Trump’s chief troll, posting multiple times this week about the incident. On Tuesday, he mocked Trump’s own Truth Social style of writing with a parody rant:

He piled on again with a macho quip: “I only walk up escalators because that’s what REAL MANLY MEN do.”

And while visiting New York for Climate Week, Newsom stopped by Trump Tower and kept the bit going: “A REAL DISGRACE. Escalator was broken at Trump Tower today. I’ve launched an investigation into this matter.”

Trump’s critics are eating it up, but his supporters are doing damage control. On Fox Business, Maria Bartiromo praised Melania Trump’s composure during the mishap: “Look how great Melania was. She is unfazed. She walks on it. It stops. She turns around to the president, and she just leads the president up and walks.”

With “Escalatorgate” now cemented as the internet’s favorite political meme of the week, one thing is clear — Newsom isn’t just governing California, he’s perfecting the art of presidential trolling.
