Comedian and podcaster Theo Von is not laughing after finding out the Department of Homeland Security clipped one of his jokes to hype up their deportation stats.
On Wednesday, DHS dropped a 31-second video on X, captioned simply “Bye.” The clip opens with Von’s voice saying, “Heard you got deported, dude – bye,” before flashing a bold claim: 2 million illegal immigrants deported in just the first 150 days of Trump’s second term. The video also features Trump declaring, “They simply stopped coming. They’re not coming anymore,” and ends with the words “LEAVE NOW” over a jet taking off.
Von wasted no time responding. Quoting the post, he wrote:
“Yooo DHS i didnt approve to be used in this. I know you know my address so send a check. And please take this down and please keep me out of your ‘banger’ deportation videos.”Yooo DHS i didnt approve to be used in this. I know you know my address so send a check. And please take this down and please keep me out of your ‘banger’ deportation videos. When it comes to immigration my thoughts and heart are alot more nuanced than this video allows. Bye! https://t.co/5v5gagf4Dr

He added that his real views on immigration are “a lot more nuanced than this video allows” before signing off with another “Bye!”
DHS hasn’t replied to requests for comment, but Von’s pushback is gaining traction online.
Von, best known as host of This Past Weekend, has had a wide range of guests—from Trump, JD Vance, and Tucker Carlson to Bernie Sanders, Mark Cuban, and Joe Rogan. He’s also got two Netflix specials (Regular People and No Offense) and is currently co-writing, producing, and starring in Busboys with David Spade, a buddy comedy set in an Arizona border town.
But one thing’s clear: Theo Von doesn’t want his comedy turned into campaign propaganda.
