Jay-Z has secured a court victory in the ongoing paternity dispute involving Rymir Satterhwaite, who has long claimed the rapper is his biological father.
The legal battle escalated when Satterhwaite’s former guardian, Lillie Coley, sought a temporary restraining order to block Jay-Z’s attempt to impose sanctions against her. Coley argued that the sanctions were retaliatory, stemming from her advocacy for Satterhwaite.
However, U.S. District Judge Serilyn Peace Garnett rejected Coley’s motion, allowing Jay-Z to proceed with efforts to penalize her. Jay-Z’s legal team maintains that Coley has engaged in “decades-long harassment,” repeatedly pressuring him to take a DNA test to prove or disprove paternity.
Satterhwaite, 30, withdrew a paternity suit against Jay-Z in July but insists his fight is far from over. In an Instagram video, he said:
“I did withdraw my case… It’s not because I’m stopping or am not going to refile it. There’s a lot going on behind closed doors… I have not stopped my fight.”
Jay-Z’s lawyers have described Satterhwaite’s claims as a “decade of harassment”, noting that previous courts have rejected the allegations, and that ongoing defiance has led to a contempt order.
The case continues to attract public attention, with the dispute occasionally surfacing in celebrity feuds, including commentary by Nicki Minaj, though the courts have consistently sided with Jay-Z to date.
