"Youtuber Emdee Tiamiyu Faces Backlash Following Controversial BBC Interview, Issues Apology"

Controversial Nigerian YouTuber, Emdee Tiamiyu, has issued an apology for his statements in an interview with the BBC, where he claimed that Nigerian students travel to the United Kingdom for greener pastures rather than academic degrees.

Tiamiyu faced significant backlash on social media following the announcement of student visa restrictions by the United Kingdom, as reported previously. British Home Secretary, Suella Braverman, stated that starting from January 2024, Nigerians and other international students would not be allowed to bring their dependents into the UK.

Numerous aggrieved Nigerians expressed their disapproval of Tiamiyu's remarks made during the interview with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) after the ban was announced.

In response to the widespread outrage, the YouTuber uploaded a video on his YouTube channel on Wednesday morning, extending his apologies to Nigerians for any inconvenience caused by his statements.

Tiamiyu expressed remorse, stating, "I sincerely apologize for any discomfort that my comments may have caused you. I offer this apology wholeheartedly, as I genuinely reflect upon the interview and the impact it has had."

He further added, "If the content being circulated has made you uneasy in any way, I deeply and sincerely apologize. I want you to know that I genuinely hold nothing but love, progress, and positive support in my heart for you. Those who are familiar with me know that this is my true intention."

Tiamiyu concluded his apology by emphasizing that his motivation behind granting the interview was solely to shed light on the genuine challenges faced by the black community in Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
