Kanayo O. Kanayo Expresses Desire to Act Into His 90s, Criticizes Rising Untalented Actors in Nollywood

Veteran Nollywood actor Kanayo O. Kanayo has expressed his desire to continue acting even when he turns 90.

In a teaser for an upcoming episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, co-hosted by Nedu, Husband Material, and Deit Cole, the 62-year-old actor lamented the influx of untalented individuals, particularly women, into the film industry, which he believes poses a significant threat.

"Many girls are desperate to act. You don’t come to Nollywood to learn how to act. Acting is in-built. If it’s not in you, go and sell crayfish," Kanayo remarked. "Let us run some people out of the [movie] industry. I want a situation where at 70, 75, 80, 90, I will still be acting."

The veteran actor also raised concerns about the increasing prevalence of drug abuse and homosexuality in Nollywood.

Kanayo's acting career began in 1982 with productions by the Nigerian Television Authority. He made his film debut in the 1992 movie "Living in Bondage" and has since starred in over 200 films.
