Anambra State Police Launch Manhunt for Kidnappers Following Multiple Abductions

 The Anambra State Police Command has launched an extensive search for kidnappers responsible for abducting several individuals.

On Saturday, July 13, 2024, at least three people were kidnapped from various locations. The first abduction, captured in a video, took place on Ifite-Amansea-Awka Road in Awka North Local Government Area, near the second gate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University.

Videos circulating on social media depict masked kidnappers forcing the victims out of a Sports Utility Vehicle and into their waiting cars.

Another abduction occurred along the Agulu-Oraukwu Road in Anaocha Local Government Area.

SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the command's spokesperson, confirmed the first incident and stated that police responding teams have recovered the victims' vehicle. "The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has indicated that efforts are ongoing to arrest the assailants and rescue the victims of the abduction incident that occurred at 2 PM on July 13, 2024, as seen in the video from Ifite-Amansea Road, Awka," Ikenga said.

"The Police responding team recovered the victims' abandoned vehicle, and joint security measures are in place to prevent similar incidents in the state. The CP has instructed the tactical teams to intensify their efforts to deny the criminals the opportunity to carry out their nefarious activities and has vowed that the Police Command will leave no stone unturned in tracking down the kidnappers.
