Republican supporters and delegates have begun displaying their support for former President Donald Trump by sporting fake ear bandages, mimicking Trump's own bandage after he survived an assassination attempt.
The incident occurred at a rally on Saturday when gunman Thomas Crooks opened fire, injuring Trump on his right ear and fatally wounding Corey Comperatore, 50. Two others, David Dutch, 57, and James Copenhaver, 74, were also injured but are now in stable condition. Investigators are still working to determine the motive behind the shooting.
Trump made a surprising appearance at the Republican National Convention on Monday, his first since the attack. He greeted supporters with a white bandage wrapped around his ear, signaling his resilience and determination.
During the second night of the convention, numerous delegates and attendees were seen wearing makeshift bandages on their right ears as a show of solidarity with Trump. These "bandages" ranged from folded-up slips of paper to pieces of tape.
Arizona delegate Joe Neglia was one of the first to be photographed wearing the ear bandage. He told CBS News that he fashioned the bandage from an envelope while on the bus to the convention.
“This is the newest fashion trend. I’m getting this going. Everybody in the world is going to be wearing these pretty soon,” Neglia said, highlighting the symbolic gesture intended to showcase unity and support for Trump during this challenging time.
