Republican Lawmaker Files Impeachment Articles Against Vice President Kamala Harris

House Republican lawmaker Andy Ogles of Tennessee has introduced articles of impeachment against Vice President Kamala Harris, accusing her of mishandling border security and misleading both the public and Congress about President Joe Biden's health.

The impeachment articles were filed shortly after Biden announced his decision to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race and endorsed Harris as his successor for the Democratic nomination.

The first article accuses Harris of "willful refusal to uphold immigration laws," alleging that she has been ineffective in her role as the "border czar." Critics argue that her inaction has contributed to ongoing issues with border security and immigration enforcement.

The second article charges Harris with a "breach of public trust," claiming she has intentionally misled the public and lawmakers about President Biden's physical and cognitive health.

The impeachment articles criticize Harris for what they describe as her significant failure to manage her responsibilities effectively, particularly in relation to the border crisis. According to the filing, December 2023 saw a record high of nearly 302,000 illegal border encounters, marking a troubling trend of elevated encounters over several months.

The filing also references alleged crimes committed by undocumented immigrants in the U.S., including the death of student Laken Riley, as evidence of the broader consequences of the alleged failures.

Ogles has urged Harris to invoke the 25th Amendment, which would allow her to become acting president due to Biden's health issues, a move that reflects growing concerns among some Republicans about Biden's mental fitness.

This development adds to ongoing debates about the effectiveness and accountability of the current administration.
