American rapper and music producer Justin "BeatKing" Riley has passed away at the age of 39. The news of his death was confirmed by his manager in an Instagram post on August 15, 2024.
“Today, Aug. 15, 2024, we have lost BeatKing,” the manager wrote. “BeatKing has been the best part of the club for over a decade. He has produced and worked with so many artists that his sound will forever live. He loved his daughters, his music, and his fans. We will love him forever.”
Houston's 97.9 The Box, where BeatKing was considered a family member, also shared their sorrow. "Our hearts are heavy with the news that BeatKing, family to us here at 97.9 The Box and Radio ONE Houston, has passed away. This is a developing story, but we are sending our love to his loved ones, friends, peers, and the whole city of Houston. We love you, BeatKing," the station said in a statement.
BeatKing, known for his distinctive music style and significant impact on Southern hip-hop culture during the early 2000s, gained fame with his infectious beats and innovative marketing strategies. His collaborations with notable artists such as 2 Chainz, Moneybagg Yo, and Erica Banks further solidified his influence in the rap community.
BeatKing's legacy extends beyond Houston, having made a lasting impression on fans and fellow artists alike. He is survived by his daughters.
