Nigerian Singer Teni Calls for More Drama and Competition Among Female Musicians

Nigerian singer Teni has voiced her frustration on social media over what she perceives as a lack of drama and competition among female musicians in the industry. In a video posted on Instagram on Thursday, Teni urged her female peers to generate more buzz, similar to their male counterparts.

“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. This female music industry is too boring!” Teni exclaimed. “Tell me why Tems and Ayra Starr can’t clash like, ‘Your papa, your papa papa’?”

In a playful tone, Teni suggested that stirring up some drama could be beneficial, followed by collaborations. “Tell me why I can’t confront Tiwa Savage and ask her, ‘What’s going on with you?’ It’s like everyone is just doing love. Sometimes, I feel like I should just give Yemi Alade a headbutt. Let’s make it exciting and have security separate us,” she added.

Teni concluded her post with a call for more excitement in the industry. “Let’s add some spice and collaborate later. Fighting doesn’t mean we won’t collaborate later; let’s give them a proper action film in the music industry,” she said.

Her remarks sparked a flurry of reactions from fans, followers, and fellow celebrities. Many responded with laughing emojis and supportive comments. Singer Kcee humorously reacted, “Why are you like this? Please stop, don’t stop.”

Another comment playfully suggested, “I want to see Burna Boy and tell him that things are heating up now @burnaboygram. We’re Gen Z; he better watch out, especially with Wizkid and Zanku.”

Teni’s call for more drama and competition has stirred considerable conversation, highlighting the ongoing dynamics within the Nigerian music industry.
