APC Chieftain Accuses Northern Influencers of Exploiting Protests for Vandalism

As Nigeria endures a wave of nationwide protests against governance failures, Adamu Garba, a prominent figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC), has criticized northern influencers for their role in the demonstrations. Garba, in a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), accused these influencers of being manipulated to undermine their own region's interests.

Garba's comments come amid a series of protests scheduled from August 1 to August 10, 2024. These demonstrations, which have sparked significant national attention, are driven by widespread discontent over issues like escalating hunger and rampant inflation.

In his post, Garba suggested that the northern influencers advocating for the protests have been exploited to "destroy their commonwealth." He argued that instead of addressing the root issues of governance, the protests have devolved into acts of vandalism, which he believes only serve to harm the North's interests.

"The North is played into this protest of vandalism. Those northern influencers pushing for this protest should by now, realize that they have been used to destroy their commonwealth," Garba stated.

The ongoing protests reflect a broader frustration among Nigerians, who are struggling with severe economic challenges. The demonstrators are calling for urgent government action to address these issues and improve living conditions.

Garba's remarks highlight a deepening divide over how to address the country's crises. While some see the protests as a necessary push for accountability and reform, others view them as a disruptive force exacerbating regional and national problems.

As the protests continue, the debate over their impact and effectiveness remains heated, with significant implications for Nigeria's political and social landscape.
