Czech Gymnast Falls to Her Death While Taking Selfie Near German Castle

A 23-year-old Czech gymnast, Natalie Stichova, tragically died after falling 260 feet while attempting to take a selfie near the iconic Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria, Germany. The incident occurred on August 15, during a sightseeing trip to the Tegelberg Mountain, a popular location that inspired Walt Disney's Sleeping Beauty Castle.

Stichova, known for her adventurous spirit and active presence on Instagram, was reportedly trying to capture the perfect shot when the accident happened. According to a close friend who spoke to Czech media, Natalie was standing dangerously close to the edge when she slipped, leading to her fatal fall. The friend, who chose to remain anonymous, recounted, "She fell from a height of about 80 meters (262 feet). We will never know whether she slipped or if a piece of the rock edge gave way."

At the time of the incident, Natalie was accompanied by her boyfriend, David, and two other friends. The local police described the route they were on as a "challenging climb," indicating the dangers associated with the terrain.

Despite the severity of her injuries, Natalie initially survived the fall and was airlifted to a hospital by helicopter. However, doctors soon informed her family that she had suffered irreversible brain damage. After six days on life support, her family made the heartbreaking decision to remove her from life support on August 21.

Natalie was a well-known figure in the Czech Republic, particularly in the sports community. She often shared photos of her adventures on social media, showcasing her love for travel and fitness. Her gymnastics club, Sokol Pribram Sports Gymnastics, released a statement mourning her loss: "Natalia spread smiles throughout her short life, and that is how we will remember her forever. We extend our heartfelt condolences to her family and close friends, sending them strength and support."

The tragic incident serves as a somber reminder of the dangers associated with taking risks for the perfect photo, especially in hazardous locations.
