Justin Timberlake Pleads Not Guilty to DUI Charge; New York Driver’s License Suspended

Pop star Justin Timberlake appeared virtually in court on Friday to plead not guilty to charges of driving while intoxicated. The hearing, conducted via video link from Antwerp, Belgium, where Timberlake is currently on tour, resulted in a temporary suspension of his driver’s license in New York state.

The charges stem from an incident on June 18, when Timberlake was pulled over in Sag Harbor, approximately 100 miles east of New York City. Police observed Timberlake’s BMW running a stop sign and struggling to stay within its lane.

According to the police report, the singer exhibited signs of impairment, including bloodshot eyes, a strong smell of alcohol, and unsteady movements. The officer noted that Timberlake failed several field sobriety tests and had slow, slurred speech.

During the virtual court appearance, Judge Carl Irace ordered Timberlake's driver’s license be suspended in New York until the conclusion of the case. Timberlake’s attorney, Edward Burke, stated that the suspension would remain in effect for the duration of the legal proceedings.

Burke maintained that Timberlake had only consumed a single martini prior to the incident and denied claims that the singer was intoxicated. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for August 9, although Timberlake is not required to attend.

The case continues to unfold, with Timberlake facing significant legal and personal scrutiny as he balances his ongoing tour and promotional activities.
