The Nigeria Police Force has issued a fresh summons to the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, and the union's Secretary General, Emmanuel Ugboaja, just a day after Ajaero had responded to an earlier invitation at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
The latest invitation, dated August 28, 2024, was signed by CP Rufus Alajide on behalf of the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Force Intelligence Department. The summons is linked to ongoing investigations into allegations of criminal intimidation, malicious damage to property, and actions likely to disrupt public peace.
The letter stated, “In furtherance of investigations into the alleged case of Criminal Intimidation, Conducts Likely to Cause Breach of Public Peace, and Malicious Damage to Properties in which your name featured, you are requested to come along with Comrade Emmanuel Ugboaja for an interview with the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Force Intelligence Department (FID).”
The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 5, 2024, at 11 a.m., at the Force Intelligence Department Complex in Garki, Abuja. The letter also provided a contact number for further assistance and urged Ajaero’s cooperation in the investigation.
