Eric Kilburn Jr., a 16-year-old football player from Goodrich High School in Michigan, has officially earned two Guinness World Records for having the largest feet and hands of any living teenager.
Standing at 6-foot-10, Kilburn’s feet measure an astonishing 13.5 inches, making him a size 23 in men’s shoes. This is far beyond the average male shoe size, which typically ranges between 8.5 and 9. His hands are equally impressive, spanning 9.13 inches, much larger than the average 7.4 inches for his age group.
"People are always amazed and love to start conversations about the size of my feet and hands," Kilburn shared with Guinness, adding that it often leads to meeting interesting people.
Kilburn has always been bigger
than his classmates and has struggled with finding shoes that fit. Since the fifth grade, he has not been able to buy shoes from a store. Custom footwear, which doctors estimated would cost over $1,500, was too expensive for his family. As a result, Kilburn wore Crocs for two years, even through Michigan’s harsh winters, which led to painful blisters and foot issues. He also missed part of his football season due to an ankle injury caused by improper footwear.
However, as Kilburn's story spread, shoe companies like Under Armour and Reebok, with support from NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal, stepped up to provide him with properly fitting shoes. Kilburn expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support, saying, "It’s amazing to see how many people genuinely care about helping others."
Inspired by the help he received, Kilburn's family started the Big Shoe Network, a nonprofit organization aimed at helping others who struggle to find clothes and shoes in their sizes. "I want to help people the way I was helped when I needed it," Kilburn said, emphasizing the importance of embracing differences.
Though setting world records wasn’t his goal, Kilburn is thrilled about the recognition and hopes his story encourages others to stay positive and proud of who they are.
