A recently resurfaced ABC News profile from 1995 on then-San Francisco mayor Willie Brown has gained attention, showing a young Kamala Harris being questioned by reporters while out with Brown, who was 31 years her senior at the time.
The special report, narrated by Dianne Sawyer, depicted Brown as a 'rogue' politician known for his extravagant lifestyle, stylish attire, lavish events, and high-profile relationships. In the footage, Harris is asked by a reporter, "Are you his daughter?" to which she laughs and responds, "No, I'm not."
At the time of the interview, Brown was 60, and Harris, then 29, had started dating the influential politician while he was running for mayor of San Francisco. Brown, who had served as the powerful speaker of the California State Legislature for 14 years, was estranged from his wife when he began his relationship with Harris.
The clip, which first reappeared on social media via the @EndWokeness account on X, has resurfaced just hours before Harris’s debate against Donald Trump. Brown, now 90, remains a notable figure in California politics.
