Augustine Eguavoen has stepped down from his role as the interim head coach of Nigeria's national football team, the Super Eagles.
Eguavoen, who is also the Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), stated that his initial mandate was only for two matches. He was appointed to lead the team after the NFF's efforts to secure a permanent head coach fell through.
During his short tenure, Eguavoen managed the Super Eagles in two Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 qualifying matches against Benin Republic and Rwanda. With his departure, the search for a permanent head coach for the Super Eagles continues.
