Controversial crossdresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has denied accusations that he bribed officials from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The claims surfaced on Tuesday night when influencer Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, released a voice recording that allegedly features Bobrisky discussing a N15 million bribe intended to persuade EFCC officials to drop money laundering charges against him. In the recording, Bobrisky also stated that he never spent time in prison following a six-month sentence related to naira mutilation.
In April 2024, Bobrisky was sentenced to six months in prison for this offense. However, he claimed in the recording that his godfather arranged for him to serve his time in a lodge instead of a prison.
In response to the allegations, Bobrisky labeled the recording as fake. He took to Instagram to clarify the situation, stating, “My attention has been drawn to a fake voice recording circulating on the internet that I paid EFCC 15 million naira and that I was never in prison. I didn’t pay any EFCC money; it is a very big lie. I served my term in full and I came out. Discard any false information.”
