Danish-Nigerian rising star, Chido Obi-Martin, has officially signed with Premier League giants Manchester United after parting ways with Arsenal over the summer. The 16-year-old forward made waves in the U18 Premier League last season, netting an impressive 32 goals in just 18 matches, setting a new record for the most goals scored by an Arsenal U18 player in a single season. In one standout performance, Obi-Martin scored 10 goals against Liverpool.
According to Manchester United's youth team expert, Academy Scoop, Obi-Martin can now be considered a United player. The club received formal confirmation from the Premier League on Friday, September 27, finalizing his transfer after a lengthy ratification process.
The young striker successfully passed a medical examination and signed a contract with Manchester United, following the completion of the Premier League's five-step review, a necessary process for registering academy players. Despite Arsenal's efforts to retain him, offering both a scholarship and a professional contract, Obi-Martin chose to explore new opportunities with Manchester United.
Obi-Martin, who has represented Denmark at the U18 level but is eligible to play for Nigeria or England, joins Manchester United on a scholarship deal. He is expected to sign a professional contract upon turning 17 in November 2024. United's acquisition of the talented youngster is seen as a significant achievement, especially as they outmaneuvered competition from top European clubs like Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Monaco, and Newcastle United.
