Former President Donald Trump has fired back at TV host Bill Maher after Maher suggested on his show that Trump might be involved with far-right activist Laura Loomer. Trump responded on Truth Social on Saturday, September 21, criticizing Maher and his panelists from the recent episode of Real Time with Bill Maher, which aired the night before.
In his response, Trump called Maher a "befuddled mess" and accused him of being a "sloppy and tired host" who is overly fixated on him. Trump also criticized the show's guests, referring to them as "B and C list" for repeatedly attacking him. He then took aim at MSNBC anchor Stephanie Ruhle, labeling her a "puppet" for the Democratic Party, and suggested New York Times contributor Bret Stephens find a new job, accusing him of working for a "failing" newspaper.
Maher’s episode included provocative remarks speculating about Trump’s personal life, with Maher saying, "Who’s Trump f**ing? Because I said, 'it’s not nobody.' He’s been a dog for too long. And it’s not Melania. I think we may have our answer this week."
Loomer, the far-right activist in question, swiftly responded to Maher’s claims, calling them "a complete and blatant lie" and threatening to sue him for defamation. She condemned the accusations as disrespectful to both Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.
The exchange has sparked further media attention, with Trump once again finding himself at odds with high-profile television personalities.
