A serious altercation broke out at Christian Methodist Senior High School (Chrimeto) in Ghana, where students allegedly attacked teachers for enforcing strict rules during the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
The conflict reportedly started after frustrated students, angered by the teachers' refusal to allow cheating during the exam, began throwing stones at them. In an interview with TV3, a teacher named Adanunyo described the tense atmosphere and the events leading to the attack.
Adanunyo explained that after the integrated science paper, a student warned him and the Head of Department that they would be harmed if they continued their strict supervision during the exams. Despite the warning, the situation worsened the next day when no police were present, and students began hurling stones and water sachets at the teachers.
"I suggested we leave the premises, but some students took other routes and confronted us, accusing me of being too strict and not allowing cheating," Adanunyo recalled. The attack targeted him, three permanent teachers, and two service personnel, further escalating tensions at the school.
The incident highlights the growing challenge of maintaining exam integrity amid pressure from students.
