Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Open to Returning as Manchester United Manager

Legendary former Manchester United striker, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has expressed his desire to return to manage the Red Devils in the future. Solskjaer, who was sacked as United's manager in November 2021 after a disappointing run of form, revealed his hopes during a business summit on Thursday, September 26.

Under his leadership, United had only won one of their last seven Premier League games, leaving the club in seventh place, 12 points behind the league leaders at the time of his dismissal. Despite his exit, the 51-year-old has not returned to management but has been linked to various coaching opportunities.

Speaking at the Oslo Business Forum, Solskjaer openly admitted his interest in managing Manchester United again one day, while expressing his respect for the current manager, Erik ten Hag. When asked about the possibility of returning to Old Trafford, Solskjaer said, "I would say yes every day of the week. It feels wrong to talk about jobs that other people have, but I would say yes of course."

The Norwegian was also asked about potentially managing his national team in the future, currently led by his former teammate Ståle Solbakken. Solskjaer responded, "I am a proud Norwegian, and of course, if the question arises when Ståle decides to give up, I will happily engage in discussions."

Solskjaer is fondly remembered for his time as a player at Manchester United, particularly for scoring the dramatic winning goal in stoppage time during the 1999 UEFA Champions League final, helping United secure a 2-1 victory over Bayern Munich and completing their famous treble.
