Biafra Government in Exile Demands Justice for Slain Ogene Musician, Calls for Lockdown in Enugu

The Biafra Republic Government in Exile, led by Simon Ekpa, has condemned the recent killing of renowned Ogene musician, Okezie Chikezie Mba, widely known as Igbo Jah, allegedly shot by an officer from the Anti-Cultism Unit of the Enugu State Police Command. The incident, which took place on Friday, has sparked widespread outrage among Enugu youth, igniting protests across the state.

In response to the tragedy, Ekpa announced plans for a state-wide lockdown in Enugu on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, vowing that the day would be dedicated to holding the musician's killer accountable. "The entire Enugu State will be under lockdown on Tuesday. This day will be used to fish out the killers of this innocent man. Enough is enough," Ekpa stated, calling for an end to what he described as "incessant killings" targeting the Igbo community.

The killing has drawn condemnation from public officials and residents, including Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah, who expressed deep regret over the loss. Meanwhile, Enugu State Police have confirmed that the officer responsible for the shooting has been identified and taken into custody as investigations continue.
