The Mediterranean Knights of Libya have arrived in Nigeria in preparation for their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 qualifier against Nigeria's Super Eagles, scheduled for Friday at the Uyo Township Stadium.
The Libyan team shared images of their arrival at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on social media platform X. From there, they will take a connecting flight to Uyo, the match venue.
All invited players for the Super Eagles have reported for duty, except for Victor Osimhen, who is sidelined due to injury.
This matchup marks the second time Libya has faced Nigeria in the AFCON qualifiers. The two teams were part of the same group during the qualifiers for the 2019 AFCON, held in Egypt. In their previous encounters, the Super Eagles dominated, winning 4-0 in the first leg in Uyo and 3-2 in the return leg.
Libya's only victory against Nigeria came during the 2004 LG Invitational Tournament, where they secured a 2-1 win. The upcoming match promises to be an exciting encounter as both teams vie for crucial points in their qualifying campaign.
