The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has clarified the steps Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo must take if he wishes to represent the Super Eagles. Adarabioyo, who recently joined Chelsea, is reportedly interested in changing his international allegiance. Although he has previously played for England at the youth level, he is still eligible to play for Nigeria.
The 27-year-old center-back was approached by former Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro in 2023, but at that time, he indicated he was not ready to commit. Recent reports suggest that he is now reconsidering his decision.
An NFF source informed ESPN, “Jose Peseiro traveled to meet with him in the UK last year to speak to him about playing for Nigeria, but he told the coach at that time that he was not ready. If he wants to make the switch now, he knows what to do.”
For Adarabioyo to be considered for the national team, he will need to make a formal move to initiate the switch, according to the federation's guidelines.
