Ola Aina, defender for Nottingham Forest and a member of Nigeria's Super Eagles, has expressed his ambition to secure a trophy with the national team. Aina, who has been performing well in the Premier League, is currently preparing to compete against Libya in the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
In a recent media interaction, Aina emphasized the talent within the Super Eagles, stating, “The current caliber of players in the Super Eagles has what it takes to deliver a trophy.” He conveyed his pride in representing Nigeria, noting, “It’s a privilege to play for the Super Eagles. It’s a dream for a lot of Nigerians. To be selected is a privilege, so I’m always happy.”
Born in London, Aina represented England at various youth levels, including U16, U17, U18, U19, and U20, before choosing to switch his international allegiance to Nigeria, where his parents originate. Since his debut in a World Cup qualifying match against Zambia in 2017, the Chelsea academy graduate has earned 42 caps, with 11 appearances in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches.
Looking ahead, Aina stated, “I want to win a trophy with the national team, whatever trophy it may be, whether the World Cup or the Africa Cup of Nations. I think winning a trophy with the Super Eagles and with this team that we have now will be the best thing.” His determination reflects the growing aspirations within the team as they aim to achieve success on the continental stage.
