Music mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs is set to go on trial for federal s3x trafficking and racketeering charges on May 5, 2025, as determined by a U.S. judge on Thursday, October 10.
Combs appeared in Manhattan federal court, where Judge Arun Subramanian presided over the hearing. His family, including his mother and six of his children, were in attendance. Wearing an all-tan prison outfit, the 54-year-old smiled and waved at his family before embracing his attorneys.
In September, Combs pleaded not guilty to a three-count indictment accusing him of using his business empire, including the famed Bad Boy Entertainment record label, to transport women and male sex workers across state lines for recorded sexual activities, referred to as "Freak Offs."
Judge Subramanian scheduled the trial date, while prosecutor Emily Johnson stated that the prosecution's case could last at least three weeks. Combs’ defense attorney, Marc Agnifilo, estimated the defense case would take approximately one week.
Since his arrest, Combs has been held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. His appeal of a previous ruling that denied him bail is currently under review.
If convicted, Combs faces up to life in prison, with a minimum sentence of 15 years for the charges of racketeering conspiracy, s3x trafficking, and transportation for prostitution. Prosecutors allege that Combs lured women with drugs such as ketamine and ecstasy, along with promises of financial support, career advancement, or romantic relationships.
The indictment further claims that Combs used recordings of these sexual encounters as "collateral" to ensure the victims' silence and sometimes resorted to intimidation, including displaying weapons. While the indictment does not accuse Combs of directly engaging in unwanted sexual acts, it does allege that he physically assaulted some of the women.
