Trump Holds Narrow Lead Over Kamala Harris Among Arab Americans in Final Stretch of Presidential Race, Poll Finds

As the U.S. presidential race heads into its final weeks, Donald Trump holds a slim lead over Kamala Harris among Arab-American voters, according to a new poll. The poll, conducted by Arab News/YouGov and released on Monday, shows Trump leading Harris 45 percent to 43 percent, highlighting the shifting dynamics caused by the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

Trump is also viewed as better suited to resolve the Israel-Palestine conflict, with 39 percent of Arab-American respondents expressing confidence in his approach compared to 33 percent for Harris. Additionally, the two candidates are tied at 38 percent on the broader question of who would be better for the Middle East overall.

The survey, which sampled 500 Arab Americans, reveals that the Israel-Palestine conflict remains the top concern for 29 percent of respondents, surpassing issues such as the economy and cost of living (21 percent), and racism and discrimination (13 percent).

Although Trump holds a slight lead, many Arab Americans perceive him as more supportive of Israel's government compared to Harris, with a six-point margin separating the two candidates on this issue.

This poll comes as a warning to Democrats, signaling that President Joe Biden's support for Israel's military actions in Gaza could harm Harris's chances in key swing states, especially as Arab-American voters are seen as critical in Michigan. Michigan, home to the largest Arab-American community in North America, is expected to play a decisive role in the upcoming election.

Earlier this month, a separate poll by the Arab American Institute showed Trump and Harris in a virtual tie, with Trump at 42 percent and Harris at 41 percent.

In a direct appeal to Arab and Muslim voters, Trump recently criticized Harris for campaigning alongside Republican Liz Cheney in key states, warning that Harris's election would lead to prolonged conflict in the Middle East. In contrast, Trump positioned himself as the candidate of peace, vowing to prevent future wars and ensure stability in the region.

Despite his outreach to Arab-American voters, Trump continues to emphasize his strong pro-Israel stance, asserting that Israel’s future depends on his reelection.
