The Ugly Betty star, 40, is said to be making the move with her husband, Ryan Piers Williams, their son Sebastian, six, and daughter Lucia, four, in search of what she feels will be "the best opportunities" for her children.
According to sources, Ferrera was deeply upset by Trump's re-election and Kamala Harris's loss, feeling disheartened by the outcome. An insider told DailyMail.com: "America is sick that Donald Trump is President again. She is devastated that Kamala lost. She thought the country she lived in was better than that."
However, Ferrera does not plan to leave Hollywood entirely, with sources confirming that she will maintain a professional presence in the U.S. “She will continue working in the U.S. and will advocate for Latinas and women, but she wants to prioritize her family and children’s education by relocating,” the insider said.
