Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly growing concerned over Kylian Mbappe’s recent performance, seeing the French star as a significant issue for the club. Mbappe, who joined the Spanish giants this summer as a highly anticipated free agent, has struggled to meet expectations in recent matches.
Ancelotti, who previously expressed his desire for Mbappe to contribute more actively, is now reportedly dissatisfied with the 25-year-old’s limited effort when Madrid is out of possession. Sources from Relevo claim that the coach has identified Mbappe’s lack of defensive work as a major factor affecting the team’s overall balance, leaving them vulnerable to counter-attacks. In the recent El Clasico defeat, it was highlighted that Mbappe covered only 8 kilometers, underscoring a perceived lack of effort.
This defensive shortfall has reportedly led to an imbalance in Real Madrid's structure, making them more susceptible to being overrun in midfield and defense. Despite his reputation as one of the world’s best forwards, Mbappe’s refusal to track back has raised concerns within the team’s camp.
Since arriving at Madrid, Mbappe has scored eight goals across 14 games in all competitions, a respectable tally but one that many feel does not fully reflect his expected impact at the club.
