Nigerian Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, recently shared that his global celebrity status grants him special privileges and VIP treatment in many countries. According to Davido, he’s often invited to presidential dinners wherever he travels—except in the United States and the United Kingdom.
In an interview with Kiss Fresh London, Davido explained that his fanbase extends to some of the world's most influential figures, including the president of the World Bank and heads of powerful nations. "Every country we go to, the President invites us for dinner, except in the UK and USA," he noted. "It’s a beautiful thing. Leaving my home country of Nigeria and being welcomed like a president in other nations reflects Nigeria’s success on the global music and cultural stage."
The singer added that although he earns more from his tours in Europe and America, he feels most appreciated in Africa. He emphasized his love for African tours, pointing out the warm reception he receives across the continent. Davido also recalled how Jamaican artist YG Marley was amazed by the overwhelming fan support during their recent video shoot in Nigeria for their hit track Awuke, highlighting the depth of admiration for him back home.
