Five Dead in Fiery Crash of Small Business Jet Near Phoenix Airport, Including 12-Year-Old Boy

A tragic crash near a suburban Phoenix airport on Tuesday claimed the lives of five individuals, including a 12-year-old boy, authorities confirmed. The incident involved a small HondaJet HA-420, which crashed shortly after attempting to take off from Falcon Field Airport in Mesa.

The six-seater jet was reportedly en route to Provo, Utah, when it aborted its takeoff at the airport. The plane subsequently broke through the airport’s metal fence before colliding with a vehicle traveling on a nearby road. The cause of the aborted takeoff remains unclear, and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has launched an investigation with assistance from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and local Mesa authorities.

Mesa police reported that four of the five passengers on board the jet died at the scene. Among the victims were 12-year-old Graham Kimball and his 44-year-old father, Drew Kimball. The other victims included Rustin Randall, 48, and Spencer Lindahl, 43, both managers at Ice Man Holdings LLC, a Mesa-based company.

The pilot, whose identity has not been released, sustained serious burn injuries and was hospitalized. The driver of the vehicle involved in the collision also died at the scene, though authorities are withholding the individual’s name until a positive identification is made.

The NTSB is continuing its investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash.
