Intel CEO Responds After Trump Calls for His Resignation Over Alleged China Ties

Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan is defending his integrity after former President Donald Trump publicly called for his immediate resignation. Trump posted on Truth Social accusing Tan of being "highly CONFLICTED" due to alleged ties with Chinese semiconductor firms reportedly linked to the Chinese Communist Party and the People’s Liberation Army.

The post followed a letter from Senator Tom Cotton to Intel’s board, questioning whether Tan had divested from companies that may pose a national security risk. Tan, who became CEO in March, did not immediately confirm if those divestments had taken place, but he strongly denied any wrongdoing, saying he has "always operated within the highest legal and ethical standards."

In a message to Intel employees, Tan addressed what he called misinformation about his past roles with Walden International and Cadence Design Systems. He emphasized that Intel is cooperating with the Trump administration and remains committed to U.S. national and economic security.

Intel also reinforced its alignment with the “America First” agenda and noted ongoing discussions with government officials. Despite the controversy, Intel’s stock saw a slight increase in premarket trading.

The tension underscores the growing geopolitical battle over tech dominance between the U.S. and China, with semiconductors and AI at the center of the storm.
