Ayra Starr Reflects on Culture, Music, and Ambitions in Recent Interview

Afrobeats artist Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, known as Ayra Starr, recently remarked on the similarities between Nigeria and the United Kingdom, highlighting their cultural parallels. Speaking to London's Capital Xtra, the Mavin Records signee noted, "I feel like the UK is very similar to Nigeria. The culture is not much different."

Starr also reflected on her recent experience touring with Chris Brown, describing it as eye-opening. During the interview, she expressed admiration for songs like Rihanna's 'B**ch Better Have My Money' and SZA's 'Snooze', expressing a wish that she had written them. She also revealed her desire to relocate to New York in the future.

Known for her viral hit 'Bloody Samaritan' released in 2021, Ayra Starr gained prominence with her debut studio album "19 and Dangerous". The album featured chart-toppers like 'Away', 'Rush', and 'Bloody Samaritan', the latter of which she later remixed with Kelly Rowland. Her musical success has garnered numerous awards and accolades, establishing her as one of Africa's fastest-rising stars.

Starr's achievements include a Grammy nomination in the Best African Music Performance category for 'Rush', making her the youngest Nigerian female artist to be nominated in that category. Despite the nomination, she was edged out by South African singer Tyla at the Grammy Awards ceremony.
