The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has announced the temporary closure of several places of worship, hotels, and other establishments across Lagos for failing to meet environmental regulations.
The closures affect notable religious institutions including the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Divine Everglowing Ministry, Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministry, Faith Prophetic Deliverance Ministry, and Christ Chosen Church of God. Also impacted are Temidire Mosque and several hotels such as Jasmine Hotel and Shammany Hotel.
LASEPA’s enforcement operation spanned key areas of Lagos State, including Agege, Ifako Ijaiye, Abule Egba, Fagba, Ketu, and Magodo. The action targeted businesses and institutions that had previously been warned but did not comply with environmental standards.
In addition to places of worship and hotels, the agency also shut down a piggery farm, a recycling firm, and other commercial entities like Eagle’s Palace Resorts, 99 Play Ground Lounge, and Royal Arc Hotel.
LASEPA emphasized the importance of adherence to environmental regulations and its role in maintaining a sustainable and harmonious environment for Lagos residents. The agency reaffirmed its commitment to rigorous enforcement of environmental laws to ensure compliance and promote cleanliness across the state.
Despite repeated warnings issued to businesses, LASEPA has taken these measures to uphold environmental standards and protect Lagos State’s reputation as a leading center of excellence.
