Nigerian comedienne, Tomama, has candidly expressed her reluctance to participate in podcasts, citing her apprehension about potentially revealing her perceived lack of sensibility.
In a viral video shared on her Instagram, Tomama addressed the numerous interview requests she has been receiving from podcasters, urging them to refrain from inviting her for interviews. Speaking in Pidgin English, she emphasized her decision, saying, “Public service announcement, I don’t do podcasts because the number of interview requests I’ve received recently is overwhelming. So, I don’t do them."
Tomama highlighted her concern about how some celebrities come across in podcasts, admitting, "The sense I lack isn’t something I want you to discover on a podcast because, many times when I hear celebrities speaking on podcasts, I think to myself, ‘I used to think this person was sensible.’"
Regarding requests to discuss topics like marriage and inspire younger generations, Tomama humorously remarked, “To all these podcasters asking me to talk about marriage, I tell them I’m not married. They say, ‘Oh, come and tell us about your journey or inspire the younger ones.’ These younger ones don’t need inspiration. They are the ones who will even inspire us at this point.”
Tomama's straightforward and humorous approach in the video has resonated widely, reflecting her stance on not wanting to risk any misperceptions about her capability to motivate the younger generation through podcast interviews.
