Primate Elijah Ayodele Urges President Tinubu to Overhaul Cabinet Amid Protests

In a pointed critique of President Bola Tinubu's administration, Primate Elijah Ayodele, the leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has called for a major shakeup in the President’s cabinet. On Friday, Ayodele issued a statement through his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, suggesting that the ongoing nationwide protests are not solely a reflection of Tinubu’s leadership but are significantly fueled by the inefficacies of his ministers and aides.

According to Ayodele, the current turmoil stems from a broader dissatisfaction with the administration's handling of key issues, particularly in managing the prices of essential commodities. The religious leader emphasized that the government must address the high costs of food, fuel, and electricity to alleviate public discontent and prevent further unrest.

Ayodele expressed concern that the persistence of the protests could destabilize the nation, warning of severe consequences if the situation is not addressed promptly. He specifically criticized Senate President Godswill Akpabio, labeling him as a problematic figure within the administration and blaming him for poor coordination that has exacerbated the crisis.

“The country is bleeding,” Ayodele declared, urging Tinubu to implement measures to reduce the prices of critical resources to calm the public. He lamented that despite having forewarned about the economic challenges under the current government, there seems to be a lack of effective response.

The Primate’s statement also reflects his broader view that the administration's failure to heed constructive criticism and address public grievances is contributing to the growing unrest. He cautioned that continued inaction could lead to further deterioration of the nation’s stability.

As the protests, which began on August 1, 2024, continue across the country, Ayodele’s advice highlights the urgent need for the government to reassess its approach to handling both economic and administrative challenges.
