Niger State Assembly Passes Bill to Establish Abdulsalami Abubakar University of Agriculture and Climate Action

 

The Niger State House of Assembly has approved the creation of Abdulsalami Abubakar University of Agriculture and Climate Action in Mokwa. The decision followed the presentation of a report by the Committee on Tertiary Education.

During the plenary session, the committee chairman, Mohammad Sani Idris, explained that the bill aims to transform the Niger College of Agriculture into a specialized university focusing on agriculture and climate action. He noted that key stakeholders were consulted to provide input during the process.

Idris added that the university will offer courses in agriculture and climate action, integrating modern technology and practices according to guidelines set by the National University Commission (NUC).

After a detailed clause-by-clause review, the Assembly unanimously passed the bill into law. Speaker Abdulmalik Mohammed Sarkin-Daji, who chaired the session, praised the committee and lawmakers for their dedication. He directed the clerk to send the finalized law to the governor for assent.
