The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially announced the ten players shortlisted for the highly anticipated African Player of the Year award.
Among the top nominees are Nigerian stars Ademola Lookman and William Troost-Ekong, both of whom have been recognized for their exceptional performances. Lookman, who has impressed with his club and national team displays, and Troost-Ekong, known for his solid defensive contributions, will represent Nigeria in the prestigious race.
Notably, reigning African Player of the Year, Victor Osimhen, will not be defending his title this year. Despite his previous success, Osimhen's challenging season with Napoli has excluded him from the list of contenders.
Other prominent names on the shortlist include Achraf Hakimi of Morocco and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Simon Adingra from Cote d'Ivoire, who plays for Brighton, and Ronwen Williams of South Africa's Orlando Pirates.
The announcement has heightened anticipation for the final award ceremony, where Africa’s best football talent will be celebrated.
