Media personality Toke Makinwa has addressed recent rumors about her alleged engagement, setting the record straight. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Makinwa clarified that she is still very much single and has not tied the knot, contrary to circulating reports.
She revealed that the rumors had caused her parents to receive numerous congratulatory calls about her supposed engagement, which she insists never happened. Makinwa wrote, "I did not get married yesterday. I deeply appreciate all your love and prayers. I see how you all desire for me to settle down, and God, who is the author of time, will do it when He thinks it is right."
She further explained that her recent event was purely a thanksgiving celebration and not an engagement ceremony, stating, "Yesterday was to honor God. I owe my friends and family too much to have a secret wedding. You all have been through everything with me, so know this from me—yesterday was a thanksgiving day and nothing more."
Makinwa humorously acknowledged the impact of the rumors on her family, adding, "Una don make my parents receive plenty calls, but I know it’s all love. All their friends have called tayaaaaaa. I am very much still singuuuuuuuuuu."
The speculations began after Makinwa celebrated her 40th birthday with a thanksgiving service on Sunday, October 20. The presence of her friend, Farouk Umar, at the event fueled the reports that it was actually an engagement ceremony, a claim that Makinwa has now firmly denied.
