Bayer Leverkusen striker, Victor Boniface, has expressed his readiness to step in for the injured Victor Osimhen in Nigeria's upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Libya. Osimhen, who is currently sidelined due to injury, will miss the doubleheader, making Boniface a strong contender to take his place in the starting lineup.
Despite the weight of expectation, Boniface, 23, is confident and says he feels no pressure about taking over the goal-scoring duties. In a recent interview with Football Fans Tribe, he emphasized that the focus is on the team's overall performance, not just individual achievements.
"I don’t feel any pressure. It’s not just me; we have other strikers like Kelechi [Iheanacho] and Awoniyi. If any of us play, we’ll do our best to secure the win," Boniface said.
He further added, "For me, the most important thing is the team's performance. Even if I don’t score, as long as we’re winning, I have no complaints. People can say whatever they want, but the victory is all that matters."
Boniface's calm approach and confidence offer reassurance for Nigeria as they prepare to face the Mediterranean Knights of Libya in their quest for a spot in the 2025 AFCON tournament.
