VIDEO; Helicopter Crash in Houston Leaves Multiple Victims, Including Child

A tragic helicopter crash occurred in Houston on the night of October 20, resulting in several fatalities, including a child, according to local authorities. The incident took place at approximately 7:54 p.m. in the Greater East End area, close enough to a fire station that firefighters on duty heard the impact.

The helicopter collided with a communication tower located behind residential homes in the Second Ward, leading to a significant explosion. The identities and ages of the victims have not yet been disclosed.

The crash caused the radio tower to collapse, igniting a fire that spanned two to three blocks in a nearby field, as reported by a fire official to the New York Times. Fortunately, the tower was the only structure affected by the incident.

Witnesses described the chaos following the crash. Manuel Arciniega, who was nearby, recalled, "My buddy behind me told me to look up in the sky, and I just saw the cell tower crumbling down. They said a helicopter hit it." Another witness, Sam Elsaadi, was dining on a restaurant patio when he witnessed the tower's collapse. "I heard something like fireworks and I looked up and I saw the tower flame out and completely crumble," he told the New York Times. Upon arriving at the crash site, he observed debris scattered across a wide area, with grass in the field ablaze.

Local media reported a significant presence of emergency personnel at the scene. Police and fire officials have urged residents in the vicinity to call 911 if they discover any debris that may assist in the investigation.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has announced that it will conduct an investigation into the crash, as confirmed by the fire department. Houston Police Chief Noe Diaz remarked, “It will be a large investigation because of the expanse of the accident.”

As the investigation unfolds, the community is mourning the loss of life and awaiting further information.
