Jason Momoa Shaves Beard for the First Time in Six Years—for a Cause He Loves (But a Look He Hates)

Jason Momoa has shocked fans by shaving off his iconic beard for the first time in six years—and let’s just say, he’s not thrilled about the fresh-faced result. The big moment went down on July 30 and was captured in a video shared on Instagram, where Momoa declared, “I hate it!” while laughing at his half-shaven face.

The dramatic transformation wasn’t just for vanity or film—it was a dual-purpose move. First, it’s part of his upcoming role in Dune: Part Three, and second, it’s a promotional push for his sustainable water company, Mananalu, which he founded to fight single-use plastic. “This is the kickoff,” Momoa said, urging fans to support the eco-friendly mission. He previously shaved his beard in 2019 when Mananalu launched.

Despite his mixed feelings about the look, Momoa received some love from girlfriend Adria Arjona, who dropped heart emojis on the post. The couple, who met filming Sweet Girl, has been going strong since his 2024 divorce from Lisa Bonet.

Momoa’s children, Lola (18) and Nakoa-Wolf (16), continue to stay close to their dad—even joining him and Arjona on the red carpet at the Chief of War premiere. And speaking of Nakoa-Wolf, he’s stepping into the spotlight too, with a role in Dune: Part Three. Proud dad Jason says his son is holding his own alongside director Denis Villeneuve: “You want your children to be better than you—and I really, actually believe he is.”

Whether or not the beard returns soon, Momoa’s fans know one thing: he’s still the same wild-hearted warrior at his core—just with a little less hair.
